Wine routes

Mendoza is easier when the day has a shape.

Most travelers are choosing between three regions. I help you pick the one that fits your timing, lunch plans, and appetite for driving.

Luján de Cuyo wine route in Mendoza

Closest classic

Luján de Cuyo

25-40 min from Mendoza City

First-time Mendoza visitors who want serious Malbec, historic wineries, and a relaxed lunch without a long highway day.

Typical rhythm

  1. 01 Morning pickup at your hotel or apartment
  2. 02 Two winery visits with time between reservations
  3. 03 Long lunch in Chacras, Vistalba, Agrelo, or nearby
  4. 04 Optional wine shop stop before returning to the city

Maipú wine route in Mendoza

Old vines

Maipú

25-45 min from Mendoza City

A warmer, more traditional wine day: older vineyards, olive oil stops, family-run cellars, and less time in the car.

Typical rhythm

  1. 01 Easy city pickup with a later start if you prefer
  2. 02 Classic winery visit and tasting
  3. 03 Olive oil or small-producer stop if it fits the day
  4. 04 Lunch, then one final tasting or return

Valle de Uco wine route in Mendoza

High altitude

Valle de Uco

About 1.5 hr each way

Travelers who want mountain views, modern winery architecture, high-altitude wines, and a full-day pace.

Typical rhythm

  1. 01 Early pickup so the drive stays calm
  2. 02 First tasting with Andes views
  3. 03 Winery lunch with enough time to enjoy it
  4. 04 Afternoon visit, wine shop stop, and return to Mendoza

About

Hi, I'm Matías Licata.
The whole company.

I was born in Mendoza, and I spend my days driving visitors between the city, the vineyards, and the mountains. The job is part logistics, part local advice: which routes make sense, where to leave enough time for lunch, and when a long drive is actually worth it.

I'm a licensed Mendoza city taxi driver — yes, an actual taxi. That's the trick: officially regulated, properly insured, and priced fairly because I'm not running a grey-market tour van. You get the same care a private driver gives, with the legitimacy of a city-licensed cab.

Most days I drive a couple, occasionally a small group, sometimes a single traveler who doesn't want to be on a bus. There's no fleet, no dispatcher, no handing you off — when you book Taxi Wine, I'm the person who shows up.

Honest fit

When this is the right call, and when it isn't.

I'm one driver with one taxi. Great for some trips, wrong for others — here's the difference, plainly.

Mendoza · Taxi OSB-IOJ

A licensed Mendoza taxi

Plate OSB-IOJ — the registered city cab

  • You are 1-4 people, often a couple.
  • You want the same driver who replied to your WhatsApp to be the one at your hotel door.
  • You want a fixed price in dollars, not a meter, not a markup.
  • You like that the car is officially regulated — license, insurance, accountability.
  • You'd rather pay in cash on the day than wire a deposit to a tour company.
Not me — and that's fine

A multi-driver tour van

When a taxi isn't the right tool

  • You are a group of 6+ — a sedan won't fit you.
  • You want a fixed group itinerary with strangers and a guide on a microphone.
  • You're booking through your hotel concierge and don't want to message a person directly.
  • You need a guaranteed fleet vehicle as a backup — taxis are individual.

If you're unsure, message me anyway. I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit, or recommend the colleague who is.

Why Taxi Wine

What you get that a tour bus can't give you.

01

Just one driver — me.

You book the person who shows up. No call centers, no rotating fleet, no hand-offs.

02

A licensed Mendoza taxi.

Officially registered (plate OSB-IOJ), insured, and regulated. No grey-market van — and no luxury-tour markup.

03

Fluent English.

Comfortable conversation, real answers about wine, food, and the region.

04

Fixed prices in USD.

What you see is what you pay. No surge, no fuel surcharge, no hidden tasting markups.

How it works

From first message to last winery.

  1. 01

    Tell me your dates

A short WhatsApp or email is enough. I reply the same day, usually within an hour.

  2. 02

    We design the day

I send winery options based on your taste — bold reds, biodynamic, architecture, big lunches — and book everything for you.

  3. 03

    I drive, you taste

Door-to-door pickup, comfortable pace, no group of strangers. Pay in cash on the day, or by card in advance.

Trust first

Clear facts before you book.

The best tour companies in Mendoza make logistics feel invisible. Taxi Wine keeps the same promise, with one visible difference: the licensed taxi is the service.

01

Registered taxi

Plate OSB-IOJ

The car is a licensed Mendoza city taxi: regulated, insured, and easy to identify when it arrives.

02

Private by default

Only your group

No mixed bus, no strangers, no fixed microphone tour. The route is built around your timing and taste.

03

Clear planning

Wineries before wheels

The day is confirmed before pickup: region, reservations, lunch plan, price, and realistic drive times.

Questions

Asked & answered.

Anything else? WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach me.

How does booking work?

Send me a WhatsApp or email with your dates and what you're thinking. I'll reply the same day with availability, a suggested route, and a final price.

Wait — it's an actual taxi?

Yes. I'm a licensed Mendoza city taxi driver who specializes in wine-country days. The car is officially registered (plate OSB-IOJ), insured, and regulated by the city. The benefit for you: legitimate paperwork, fair regulated rates, and none of the markup that grey-market tour vans charge.

How many people fit?

Up to 4 passengers comfortably, plus normal day-trip luggage. For larger groups I can recommend a colleague with a minivan.

Do I need to pay in advance?

Not for most services. You can pay in cash on the day (USD or pesos at the official rate). If you prefer, I can also send a card link before the trip.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Cash (USD or ARS), bank transfer, and card via a secure link. Tips are appreciated but never expected.

Can you book the wineries for me?

Yes — and I recommend it. Most good wineries require reservations and the best slots fill up weeks ahead. Tell me your taste and I handle the rest.

I don't know which wineries to choose.

That's the most common situation. After a short conversation about what you usually drink, your budget, and the kind of day you want (relaxed lunch vs. four tastings), I send you a shortlist with a clear plan.

Do you do mountain trips, not just wine?

Yes. Aconcagua, Puente del Inca, Termas Cacheuta, horseback rides — see the Experiences section. Many travelers do one wine day and one mountain day.

Do you speak English?

Yes, fluently. I also speak Spanish (native) and some Portuguese.

Plan your day

Tell me your dates.

A few sentences are enough — when you're arriving, how many of you, what kind of day you want. I reply the same day with a plan and a price.
